The house is situated in the traditional settlement of Exo Nyfi in the eastern part of the Mani peninsula. Chosen as a location for the film Tempest, starring John Cassavetes, Exo Nyfi is an ideal base for exploring this compelling region, a place where time seems to have stood still... a land of ancient ruins, medieval castles, intriguing stone towers and Byzantine churches.
Nestled on a tranquil hillside, the residence looks out over an unspoiled landscape as far as the sea, which is just five minutes by car. In addition to hiking trails of varying difficulty, winery tours, horse riding, mountain climbing and secluded beaches, the area has many other attractions, including the magnificent Diros caves. Nearby tavernas offer the opportunity to discover authentic dishes prepared with celebrated local ingredients such as finest quality olive oil, fresh herbs and delicious honey.

Dating to the 18th century, the house has been expertly restored and extended in a way that not only preserves its traditional elements but also harmoniously integrates them with the minimalist interiors to create a sense of serenity. Next to the house stand an impressive 16th century tower and a Byzantine chapel with 12th century wall paintings. Surrounded by a garden with a hammock, olive trees, rocks, even a cave, it is an ideal hideaway for relaxing holidays in complete privacy.
Built using local materials and construction techniques, the 150 m2 house has environment-friendly features, including rainwater harvesting and a wastewater disposal system for irrigation. The construction plan follows the natural slope of the hill, so that each of its three levels has outdoor access.
On the lower level there is a bedroom with one double bed, a single bed and a wooden ladder leading to a loft with a double mattress. A half-height wall separates the bedroom from an open closet, beyond which is the bathroom.
A wooden staircase leads to the middle level, where there is a living room and a kitchen. The living room can be converted into a sleeping area with one double and one single bed. The well equipped kitchen has a wooden dining table for 6-10 persons and a stove with wood-fired oven. The lower level opens onto the main veranda, which features an open-air kitchen with marble sink, BBQ and a large wooden table, ideal for al fresco dining. The middle level affords access to a cosy balcony, the perfect spot for breakfast in the shade of the old tower and trees.
A staircase leads to the upper level, which can - if necessary - be isolated from the lower and middle levels to serve as an independent living unit. It comprises a sitting room with fireplace, a sofa that can be used as a double bed, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, a loft with single bed, a double bedroom and a shower room. There is access to two yards, one an inviting tree-shaded haven and the other at the foot of massive rocks; both enjoy magnificent views to the sea.
