Villa Gerakari is situated on the quiet and relatively undiscovered island of Kythira. The home is located in the peaceful little hamlet of Gerakari in the north of the island, at a height of 400m, and boasts truly spectacular 180 degree sea views across to the southern tip of the Peleponnese (Cape Maleas). On clear days one can see the island of Milos in the distance, and one can enjoy spectacular sun and moon rises with light and colour shimmering on the Aegean. Gerakari backs on to the largest forest on the island which is great for hikers along the many and varied forest tracks. In spring the area is flooded with wild tulips, hyacinths, crocus, orchids, daisy’s and lupines, ’intoxicating the senses with colour and aroma.

The villa and the Byzantine chapel form the same property, and are of stone construction and built to an extremely high specification. Both furnished to a very high standard with many luxury fittings and fixtures.
The main house comfortably sleeps a maximum of 5 adults and two children: Two luxury suites with lounging areas are suitable for couples (one of the two suites has a dressing room and bathroom en-suite - the other has a bathroom adjoining the bedroom suite).
The main suite downstairs is of a raw stone “Kamara” construction (barrel-vaulted). It has a glorious Persian double bed (160x2), sofa, wardrobe and television and enjoys large windows facing the sea-view.
The upstairs suite is a large bedroom (140x2) with its own lounging area, and two Juliette balcony’s, a dressing room and en-suite bathroom. The dual aspect floods the room with light, whilst enjoying breathtaking views to the seaward side and to mountain views as well.
A large open-plan first floor room may be used as an office, or can accommodate two single beds suitable for up to two children. A large veranda leads off from this open-plan room.
A further large single en-suite bedroom (106x2) lies off an enclosed “Avli” (courtyard) area with access to the main house kitchen.
On the ground floor there is a long veranda running almost the entire length of the house which takes full advantage of the spectacular view.
The entry patio which can be used as a lounging / eating area catching late afternoon sun or in the shade of olive trees.
In addition a cozy protected enclosed courtyard may be used as an outdoor lounging or eating area. This courtyard has a traditional stone, baker’s “pizza” oven.
Indoors the large kitchen is offered with all modern conveniences for the chef, and includes a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer as well.
Enjoy sumptuous dinners on the large refectory table (comfortably seating 10 -12 persons), whilst cooking on a modern Boretti range-cooker (gas hob and electric oven).
The Byzantine chapel is adjacent to the main villa but also has its own entrance-way. It is a wonderful open-planned space with a full kitchen, bathroom, separate lounge/ dining area and a platform mezzanine bedroom (160x2) reached via a steep staircase. Again this space can be flexible with the downstairs area easily being used as a bedroom if the staircase poses a problem. The chapel is flooded with natural light and enjoys two outdoor lounging / dining areas, firstly a large and totally private veranda taking full advantage of the panoramic sea-view on the seaward side, and secondly a cozy and shady outdoor seating / dining area on the mountain side. The Byzantine chapel is ideal for a couple.
