Velado Villa is nestled in an elevated, tranquil spot at Velado (Agia Mavra) in the central-eastern part of the island. This is the greenest part of Kea, an area dotted with rare old oak trees. The villa affords stunning views of the sparkling blue sea and the surrounding untouched hillsides, where guests may catch a glimpse of wild horses. The location makes the villa ideal for a relaxed getaway, with plenty of choices for leisurely walks or hikes in a serene pastoral setting.
And it’s only 3 km to the nearest beaches. Picturesque Orkos, washed by crystalline blue-green waters, has a few straw umbrellas and several trees providing shade. Due to its location, the beach attracts very few visitors and the clear water is perfect for snorkelling. The road is paved right down to Orkos, while a turn-off leads to an even more secluded beach, Psathi.

Constructed of stone throughout, the villa comprises two functionally independent, adjacent spaces – The Loft and The Haven – which together occupy an area of 132 m2. There are a further 100 m2 of terraces and the property stands on roughly 5,000 m2 of private land. Thick walls provide good insulation, ensuring that the interiors remain cool in summer and warm in winter, so there is no need for air-conditioning. Velado Villa fully respects the island’s traditional building style and no synthetic materials have been used in its construction. Everything is natural and authentic.
The Loft is a contemporary dwelling with an open-plan design, though the adjustable futon double bed can be separated by a curtain for privacy. The dining space is comfortable and the sitting area has sofas, on which two more adults or children can sleep, again with a convenient curtain divider. The interior is uncluttered, with attractive design features such as the stone fireplace.
The rustic-style kitchen is fully equipped, while the bathroom has a basin, WC and shower. Right next to the house, a stone terrace looks out over the sea and across the undulating landscape of olive trees and grazing land.
The Haven is a traditional stone building, over 100 years old, which has been lovingly renovated and transformed into a cosy holiday cottage. Blending seamlessly into the hillside terrain, natural daylight flows into the interior through five skylights. The cottage features a bedroom with double bed, a sitting area with a small dining table and sofas with futon mattresses (on which two more adults or children can sleep), plus a curtain divider for added privacy. It also has a small bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. The Haven opens directly onto a large terrace shaded by a reed pergola, with a wooden dining table and deckchairs from which guests can take in the amazing sea views, watch the sun rise and savour memorable sunsets.
